009.08 A small village about half a mile from the town of Kelso, and on the opposite Side of the River Tweed. It contains only few houses of a modern taste for the greater number are small, one story high and of an old fashioned appearance There is a good private school.
Near the village is a remarKable old and large poplar with has a girth as the root of 31 feet and measures two feet from the base, 21 feet in circumference.
