[North East] of the town of Kelso, on the North bank of the River Tweed and bounded on its South and east Sides by the TurnpiKe road from Kelso to Coldstream - It has 3 handsome entrance Gates - each a mile apart - the mansion house which stands on a Very commanding elevation - having one of the best views of any in the district - is a very fine building - elegantly furnished, and contains an extensive collection of Paintings by the first Masters - the grounds are ornamented with belts of wood, a great variety of Scattered Trees. with many Small Circular Plantations -
