021.05 [Situation] At the junction of Abbots Close with Castlegate.
The site of a Tower situated near the entrance to the Abbey. It is popularly Called Dabie's Tower, and therefore Supposed to have been named after the Saintly David, who often resided here [Inserted note] Dabbie means holy - so named probably from its proximity to the Abbey.
The Walls have long Since been demolished, and the Stones have been Carried away, a modern mansion now occupies its Site, which belongs to the Marquis of Lothian.
