021.05 | [Situation] At the N.W. [North West] end of Abbey Place. A large and handsome building three stories high, built in 1812, of polished freestone. It was erected at the sole expense of the heritors of the County, and opened for the reception of the Lords of Justiciary in 1813. In the middle flat is held the Circuit Courts and Sheriff Courts, in it is also the County Police Office, in the under flat is the sheriffs rooms and Sheriff Clerks rooms, and in the upper flat is the town Clerks rooms. |
