[North East] of Kelso -The Turnpike-road from Kelso to Coldstream forms its southern & Eastern boundary to the extent of a mile & a half - The Park is well planted with close wood, Scattered Trees, and detached circular Plantations; the dwelling house or Mansion, is situated nearly in the centre of the Park, it is a very fine building situated on an eminence, & commands an extensive view of the Merse, the greater part of Roxburghshire,and the Cheviot Mountains - the interior of the house is very fine, & contains the best private collection of Paintings & works of Vertue, probably, to be found in Scotland It is the property & residence of John Waldie Esq. |
