"Ettleton Parish was united to the Parish of Castleton shortly after the Reformation" (See Book of the Universal Kirk Vol [Volume] 3 page 650.) and its church was allowed to fall into decay after that period. "In 1585 it was ecclesiastically united with Castleton, and the united charge was then vacant, probably for want of adequate provision for a pastor" (See Origines Parochiales) |
