This Parish is in the Presbytery of Tain and synod of Ross. Patron the Duchess of Sutherland. It is bounded on the North by the parish of Edderton; on the North East by Logie Easter; on the South East by the Parish of Nigg; on the South by the Cromarty Firth and on the West by the Parish of Rosskeen. The Parish Church is situated in the East part of the Parish in the village of Kilmuir. There are no detached portions of any other Parish within the limits of this Parish; but there are two portions of Cromarty-shire within it. neither is there any detached portion of the Parish in any other. The Parish contains about 10450 statute acres and is all in a good state of cultivation |

"On the same property (Kindeace) there is a large Cairn of Stones, the tradition in regard to which is that in a great battle fought there, a King was Killed, and his head struck off, And buried under this Cairn. Close to the main road near Torran farm, the course of the stream has been diverted, the greater portion of the water running past Dorrachan and Kindeace and is Known as the Burn of Kindeace. The original channel runs eastward past Culnacoyle and empties its water into Balnagown River opposite Dalnaclerach. |
