028 "Parish School", A very neat building slated and in good repair with teacher's dwelling attached situated about two hundred yards North of the Post Office, The salary is made up by the school fees and a donation from the proprietor the average attendance is 40 Mr. William Alexander is Teacher. The ordinary branches of education are taught & it is attended by both sexes.

028 Situated a little to the N.E. [North East] of the Parish School in Cartomie Wood. There are six huge boulders still remaining The Diameter is 36 feet - And the interior was found at 6 inches below paved with round stones, in the Centre a short Cist was found Containing fragments of an Urn, pieces of burnt bone, human teeth, & bits of Charcoal. It was opened in 1866.
