A large treat of sand between high and low water extending from Crianan mor to Sron Lobaid the sand is bounded landwards by a stays slope inclining sea wards the feature of the sand is frequently changed owing to the forceable action of the waves which break with great violence at times, causing a roaring noise, resembling distant thunder which may be heard a mile distant.
