005 | This is a hill of Considerable extent on the Sea Shore north west of Mealabost Village and composed partly of Arable and Rocky pasture, it is low and at a distance it appears noway prominent it forms a low long ridge extending from north east to South west there is a Trig [Trigonometrical] Station on its Summit. There is a rock or Shoal Called Bogha Chearcain from which this hill takes its name about 2 or 3 miles in a north west line from the Summit of this hill which is large and extending in the Same direction for Seven or eight miles out to Sea, but not So Shallow as to do any injury to Vessels or Boats as the Shallowest part at Spring tides has about four fathoms of water over it. turn over.
