007.14 This is supposed to mark the Site of the Old Chapel mentioned in the "Statistical Account" of the Parish, on the Prieston ground. John Spier who occupied the present dwelling house of "Prieston" for some time, considers, from what has been told him by a few of the old Residenters of the Parish, now dead, this to be the place where the Old Chapel stood.

007.14 The same authority as above quoted, (John Spier) has pointed this place out, which he considers was the Old Burial Ground in connection with the said Chapel. This is known to a few Inhabitants in the neighbourhood. Several human bones have been ploughed up here.

[Site of Chapel Prieston]
"A little to the east of the Castle, there are the
vestiges of an old Romish Chapel; though nothing
remains but the foundation, yet the present tenant,
Robert Donaldson, says, his father remembered the
walls three feet high. The floor was of clay, which
being dug, contained human bones. The farm
is called Prieston. The house remains the same
as when the priest lived in it."
