086 ; 098 The village of New Scone, situated two miles from Perth, on the Coupar Angus road, is about one mile in length. The principal part of the houses have been built within the last fifty years, partly one, and partly two storeys, slated, and in good repair. It has three places of worship, namely, the parish Church, Free Church, and the U.P. [United Presbyterian] Church, and their respective manses There are three schools, viz., the parish school, one belonging to the Free Church, and a female school, the latter built by Lady Mansfield. There are three publichouses, several small grocers' shops, and a post office. The chief part of the village is feued off the estate of the Earl of Mansfield, the remainder off the estate of Murrayshall. The houses are a good deal scattered, though the place is regularly laid out in streets, which are not named.
