130 ; 131 | This name is applied from the confluence with the "Duchray Water" of a Stream Called the "Asendow" issuing Out of Loch Ard, a short distance East of the village of Aberfoil. It takes a south-easterly direction till joined by the Kelty Water And then proceeds in an almost easterly direction, forming the Southern boundary of the Parish. "The River Forth has its rise in the western extremity of the parish of Aberfoil. After passing through the lakes, and receiving many accessions from the Streams that descend from the Mountains it bursts forth, at the lower extremity of Lochard, with considerable magnificence Over a rock near 30 feet high. Hence it flows with a less agitated current through the eastern District of the parish (Aberfoil) where it forms a beautiful & fertile valley called The Laggan". &c &c &c Old Stat A/c [Statistical Account] of Aberfoil "The Forth has its Source in a Small Stream that arises at a place called Sgiath an Iubhair, or the ridge of yew trees, about 12 miles westward, beyond Lochcon; but it receives, about a mile above Aberfoil, a very important accession to its streams from the water of Duchray, which has its rise near near the Summit of Benlomond; and which may seem to many to have an equal claim to the Origin of the Forth.
