130 An old farm steading in ruins now part of the farm of Nether Shannochill
There had been an old burial ground at this place, but has not been used as such within the memory of the oldest inhabitant in the district, and has been for the last generation used as an agricultural garden. The following quotation from the new Statistical Acct. [Account] refers to this place "There has been the site of a chapel at Arnchluy about a mile west of the Lake of Monteith, and whose name is by Gaelic scholars interpreted portion of the Cell or Burying ground"
"A chapel stood at Arnchly, "The field of the sword", about a mile from the west end of the Lake" Full. [Fullarton's] Gazetteer. The exact site of the chapel is not now known, but the burial ground is remembered through the family of the present Tenant Mr. McKeurtan, whose Grandfather remembered the last burial which took place here. This was one of 4 Chapels in Dependence on the Priory of Inchmahome [Initialled] JB
