098 | [Situation] Between Mill Street and Murray Street. A neat building one storey high fitted up as public baths and a public Wash-house. There are 12 bath rooms viz. 4 first class baths including one marble bath to which the charge is higher than the others 4 second class baths and 4 third class baths, There also a swimming bath. The Wash-house is well fitted up. There are two good Washing Machines in the centre is the drying stove. There are besides as permanent fixture boilers which are heated by steam pipes and tubs permanently fixed capable of accommodating 12 or 13 washer women. All the plunge baths have also shower baths attached. The cost of the building and purchase of the site and furnishing, &c. was defrayed by public subscription. |
