128 [Situation] In the northern portion of the parish A Small Village about three miles N.E. [North East] of Dollar the house are only one storey high having small Vegetable gardens attached and occupied principally by persons belonging to the labouring class, There's a Post office on the North side of the Village, being a sub post in connection with Dollar where letters are received from and despatched to, the latter place daily. The Village is the property of Peter Hardie Esqr. and Alexander Haig Esqre.

The popular name of this village is "Pool of Muckart" but
the Post Mistress in the village States that very few letters are
addressed "Pool of Mukart" by far the greater part are
addressed simply "Muckart" and the post Stamp is all
Muckart. The minister also states that all his correspondence
with the secretary of the post office and others are "Muckart"
and he would recommend to write the village name Muckart, but Colloquial usage is entirely against this
