The private chapel attached to Trinity College, and but recently erected. It is a handsome Gothic building, decorated interiorally with good taste and containing some excellent stained windows, the one over the Communion Table being particularly good in harmony of colors. It was consecrated in 1851: has no dedicatory name, being simply "dedicated to God": and is styled in the deed of consecration "The Chapel of the College of The Holy and Undivided Trinity".
It is ministered by the professors of the college and is seated for about 180. |

William Smythe Esq. Methven Castle |

A very handsome and extensive educational building in connection with the Episcopal Church of Scotland. Its situation is all that could be desired; standing, as it does, on the banks of the Almond in an elevated and healthy position, retired from the hum of city life but in the midst of Nature's beauties; with a richly wooded country near at hand, bold and rugged hills away in the distance - their varied colors adding beauty to the landscape - while the mazy walks along the banks of the clear and winding Almond lead to most picturesque bits of river scenery and give full scope to the rambling inclinations of the students.
The building was commenced in 1842 and finished in 1847, since which time a splendid dining hall has been added, the whole costing about £50,000. About 190 students attend, some of whom are in training for the Church.
The property is in the hands of the Trustees |
