the south-western and larger district & augments the Dean a mile above that streams influx to the Isla. The principal Mansion houses are Drumkilbo, Cardean, Belmont Castle and Meigle House - The Main line of the Scottish North Eastern Railway to Aberdeen skirts the eastern extremity of the parish, and a branch line from Meigle Junction to Alyth runs through the centre of the parish.
The only village in the parish is Meigle, it is pleasantly situated on its cognominal rivulet in the Centre of the parish, at the intersection of two turnpike roads. The nearest market-town is Coupar Angus, 5 miles distant, but Dundee (13 miles) is the principal market-town & port for shipping of grain. It has a post office & is supplied with Gas.
The only antiquities in the parish are the celebrated sepulchral stones of Vanora's Tomb in the churchyard of Meigle (64.4) a Tumulus called Belliduff in the grounds of Bellmont, a Standing Stone named Macbeth's Stone (64.4) and the site of an ancient Chapel (64.3) now occupied by a Mausoleum.

There is no portion of this parish detached, nor is there any portion of any other parish contained within the boundary of this parish.
