132 A wooded and arable eminence on the Keir estate, from which a fine view is obtained of the Bridge of Allan and the Abbey Craig. Name supposed to be derived from its being in olden times a place of execution, the terminal "s" (in gallows) having been dropped. There is a fine quarry on its western side named Gallow Hill Quarry. Property of William Stirling Esqr. and situate in the parishes of Dunblane and Lecropt.
