Mr. D. Hill Robert Stewart |
098 | This name applies to a hollow portion of a field, lying a Short distance South of Kinfauns Schoolhouse. Mr. Hill of Burnfoot informs me, that there was a considerable sized loch here about twenty years ago, but since it has been drained and cultivated into arable land. He also informs me that in the site of this loch there formerly stood a house in which a Minister lived, that he (the Minister) with some others were playing a game of cards on a Sunday morning. When enjoying themselves at this game the house sunk and the loch sprung up. When it was first drained there were several old antiquities found whether they were preserved or not I cannot ascertain |
