087 | [Situation] On the NE [North East] side of site of Rossie village. A Conspicuous object within the demesne of Rossie Priory. It stands in its Original position, which was formerly in the Centre of the Village of Rossie, when it existed: It is in excellent Preservation and is supported on a flight of steps; on the top of the Cross is cut the date 1746 with some initials. The Cross consists of a Crecian column 13 ft. [feet] high with 5 steps around of the height of 3ft [feet] 6in. [inches]. Two Unicorns and two Lions supporting a Ball on the top of the Column The following is a horizontal section with the letters and [date] on it R.H. 1746 K.C. |
