be inferred that there is an
object called Outer Grain
and it appears plainly
that there is such an
object at the meeting
of the two streams.
Enquiry to be made
and the name to be
written and Descriptive
Rks [Remarks] to be written.
It is also evident that
the name Greenknowes on
this trace should be
written as two words viz.
Green Knowes.
Sheet 118 No. 16
Trace 5
Cadger Gate Head. Is described
in Name Sheet as applying to a
gate. The name evidently
Contradicts this application
Is not the gate Called
Cadger Gate? Also is there
not a hill or eminence
Called Cadger Gate Head?
or perhaps Gate, here
is Scotticism for road or
way. Is the public road
here Called Cadger Gate?
of which it is understood
the above gate may be either
the head or termination?
Trace 6
Greenlaw Hill. Should not
[Right hand side of this page]
[Outer Grain]
There is no such object
[Greenknowes]
It should be written in two words
[Cadger Gate]
This name applies to the road
& not the gate, of which the latter
there is Known as being the head. It
is now marKed on the trace
[Cadger Gate Head]
This old road leads from
Glendevon to Auchterarder having
an incline all the way up from the farm
to that part of it called Cadger
Gate Head or Cadgergate Head
thence the incline is down to Aughter
[right hand side of image]
this name be simply "Green
Law"? The word law is well
Known to mean hill, therefore
it is absurd to add the
word, unless as it happens
Sometimes, that there is a
house called Greenlaw
in the immediate neighbourhood
but there seems to be no
such object here, and
more over if such was the
case it should be stated
in Descriptive Rks. [Remarks]
Sheet 127 No. 3
Trace 2
The names Fawncleuch Hill
and Fawncleuch Burn occur
on this trace. Is there not
a cleuch called Fawn Cleuch
on this plan or adjoining one?
Trace 3
Innergrain Burn is written
on this trace. Is there not
an object called Inner
Grain?
Trace 4
Wanangoat Burn. Is there
not an object called Wanan Goat?
Kaim Know, is written
on trace but in Name Sheet
it is written Kaimknow. Traces
and Name Sheet should exactly agree
In valn. [valuation] Roll this name
is written Kaimknowe.Is not
this the proper spelling?
[Right hand side of this page]
[Green Law]
Some people call it Green
Law Hill but I understand it
is commonly called Green Law
[Fawncleuch]
There is no such object or cleuch
[Innergrain Burn]
No such object
[Wanan Goat]
None
[Kaim Know]
Kaimknowe is proper
