099 [Situation] In the N. [North] western portion of the parish.-

A Castle with offices and Garden attached and Surrounded by Ornamental Grounds & Grass parks; it is Situated about a mile N. [North] West from the Village of Errol. -- The old part of the Castle is Said to have been built about the midd [middle] of the 16th. Century, and was evidently a place of great strength as the numerous loopholes etc still existing in the Walls testify. Over one of the Windows is a Stone Tablet bearing an Inscription and the date 1575 The Castle has undergone numerous repairs and received additions, the last of which was about the year 1830, as appears from a Tablet in the Wall over the chief entrance which bears the Arms etc of Admiral Drummond of Megginch and the date 1830. The whole building is in the Castellated Style and in excellent repair; it is the property & Residence of John Murray Drummond Esq. of Megginch. -
