109 | [Situation] In the N. [North] East portion of the parish This name applies to the remains of a tower situated in Broad Wood. The history connected with it, is only traditional. It is asserted in the locality, that it was a tower used as a place of defence & watch by the Romans, There are also a series of ditches of a semicircular form adjoining it. The portions of the Walls now remaining are about four feet high. |
