073 A large village in the parish of Auchtergaven, situated nine miles from Perth on the toll toad leading to Dunkeld and Inverness. The name Dunkeld Road is given to a street, the principal, on eather side of which stands the greater part of the village, there are other two streets called Loganallachy Street and Prieston Road, also a part of the village known as Cairniehill. In it there are four places of worship - the Parish church, Free Church, United Presbyterian Church, and United Secession Church, the latter is now disused. Ther are two Schools, one supported by the Educational Scheme, the other entirely by subscription The only two places of public entertainment are the Athole Tavern and Bankfoot Inn in which a Post Office is established under the management of Mr. John Fraser, A small dwelling house is rented by the Commissiones of Police for a Station and is situated at the north end of Dunkeld Road. On an average the houses are one storey all slated and in middling repair the greater number are occupied by laborers, weavers &c. A small pendicle or vegetable garden is attached to each house, and, with few exceptions are all feued. Entire Proprietor - Thomas Wylie Esqr. Airlywight, Bankfoot
