073 | [Situation] In Auchtergaven Ph. [Parish] No information can be gathered with regard to these remains of a fort on the summit of Craig Obney - but there can be no doubt that it was built at a very remote period as there is nothing remaining now but a few stones laying in a somewhat circular form. "On Craigobany, one of the summits of Birnam, there was recently discovered a vitrified fort." Fullarton's Gazetteer "The Antiquarian will find, on one of the southern points of Birnam, called Craig Obeny, the remains of a Circular Fort, partially vetrified. The approach to this fort from the south is still traceable; and from its commanding position must have been a place of great strength in the days when gunpowder was unknown."
