It was the Capital of the ancient Kingdom of the Picts and therefor the district is rich in antiquities - See Descriptive remarks for town or burgh of Abernethy.- This Parish is in the presbytery of Perth and Synod of Perth and Stirling. Patron the Earl of Mansfield There are no detached portions of Abernethy nor are there any detached portions of any other parish within it. But Mugdrum Island belongs to Abernethy ph. [parish] which may be considered detached portion.
