012 | [Situation] About ¾ of a Mile N.E. [North East] from Hammer Head. An Extensive Open Valley extending from near the shepherds House called Stobo Hope, Northwards to the Cottage Called Stobo Hopehead and thence to the Broughton Heights where it opens out into a very open Valley of a Somewhat Circular Shape. It is encircled by Very high Ridges of Hills except where the Ridges are Crossed by Bridle Roads. There are Several Small Streams flowing through this Valley, which form Hopehead Burn Southwards to where Margate Burn joins and thence to the River Tweed it is called Weston Burn. |
