A plain substantial stone building, standing on a high bank above Haystoune Burn - It is two storeys high & slated and erected in 1660, as indicated on a stone bearing the family arms over the principal entrance in the S. [South] Wing - the Out Offices are Commodious & abut from the dwelling house & are of more modern erection - There are a Saw- & thrashings mills, worked by water, a short distance N. W. [North West] of the house, all in good repair - A large walled in garden joins the E. [East] Side of the house - Haystoune is the property of, & was formerly the residence of Sir Adam Hay - It is now a farm stead & occupied by Mr A. Buchan, Agent -
