013 [Situation] On the Summit of White Meldon

On the Summit of White Meldon there stood a large Camp or Hill Fort of a Circular form composed of Earth and Stones - About 20 years ago this Camp was destroyed by the stones being taken away for building purposes. About two hundred cart loads were taken at that time, and many subsequently - No coins or weapons were found in or around this Camp.

On the highest point of this hill there also stood a large Cairn (most probably of Druidical Origin the stones of which had been taken away some time before the destruction of the Camp - The few remaining stones on the top of the Cannot be considered as belonging to the Ancient Cairn as they have been placed there to support the Trigl [Trigonometrical] Station -
