of them at present remains, the most remarkable were St. Andrew's Church, St Cross Church or Church of the Holy Cross The High Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary with several chapels, a Monastery for Red Friars; and an Hospital dedicated to St. Leonard for the support of aged & infirm persons, which stood in the Eastern extremity of the Parish. On the Hill of Cademuir may be traced the remains of a Roman Camp, and on Janet's Brae about ½ a mile east from Peebles, the remains of two Roman Camps are still Visible and about ¾ of a mile West stands Neidpath Castle in ruins.
