it appears that this is a Chapel of Ease. See also

"The School in Megget on account of the State of the
roads the numerous streams which intersect them and
the usual severity of the weather is not Kept during the Winter
the Teacher is engaged, who begins his labours about Whitsunday and continues them till
the martinmas following. The heritors have allowed £7 for the support of the school. The
rest of the scholars furnish the schoolmaster in succession with board & lodging." New Stat Acct [Statistical Account] No. 174.
