A large and Mountainuous detached portion of the parish of Lyne and bounded on the North by Manor on the West by Tweedsmuir and on the S.E. [South East] by Selkirk and Dumfriesshires. It is wholly elevated Moorland and contains no village of any Kind, being so far distant from the Parish Church of Lyne, it possesses a Church (quoad Sacra) a School is also open during the Summer Months, by the liberality of the heritors. Previous to 1620 this was the Parish of Megget which on its suppression became annexed to Lyne. This district is still well known as Megget.
