This applies to a Place within a few perches of the farm house of Fernyhaugh where a large cairn of Stones once stood. The stones were removed for the purpose of making walls and at the time of their removal there was found in the Cairn, a short sword or dagger, together with an Urn containing some ashes.

There was another Cairn which stood a short distance N E [North East] of this, but at the time of its Removal nothing was found. A good many Flint headed Arrows were found in this Neighbourhood by John Millar, Shepherd. Fernyhaugh
