002 | [Situation] In the North end of the Ph [Parish] of Linton A large hill, the surface of which is heathy pasture, situated between East Cairn Hill, and Deer Hope. There is a Trigl. [Trigonometrical] Station on its summit called "Wetherlaw" The property of Richard Gordon Esqr Halmyre. This hill owes its name to the circumstance of male sheep being driven there to feed, the wethers are always kept on high ground, being more hardy than gimmers (female sheep) which are always kept in sheltered places. |
