014 | [Situation] About ¼ of a Mile W by N. [West by North] from Nether Pirn On the Summit of the Shank at the South west side of Pirn Craig, is a large circular Fort or Camp. From the South base of the Shank, at the Village, to its Summit, the ground presents many indications of being at one time fortified by a Series of embankments. No trace of these now remain excepting at the Summit where there is one Circular bank with two quarter circles at the South end. The wood has partly destroyed what remains of the Camp - but the trees have lately been cut away in its centre - |
