009 | [Situation] On Bowbeat Hill A very small hole full of Stagnant water which Tradition says has no bottom it is not more than 1 foot in diameter and appears quite insignificant there being no masonry or any thing else to protect it It is mentioned in "Pennicuicks" History of Tweedale speaking of Bowbeat he says 'Near the latter is a small stagnant piece of water called the Eye and said but erroneously to be unfathomable. |
