Remarks

Site of Dan's Kiln
This was a Kiln used for burning brick and drying corn and is said to have owed it's name to it's original proprietor. It was Situated in a small ravine or Drain on the estate of Darnhall. When it became ruinous it was taken possession of by a tribe of gipsies and it continued to be the resort of all the strolling tinkers who passed this way untill its removal, which was effected when the new lines of Road from Edinburgh to Peebles has in Course of formation.
