Is a small cataract or water fall situated upon Cowieslinn Burn very near to "Cowieslinn farm house", the water rushes over rocks to the depth of about 17 feet and the noise from it is heard to a considerable distance during wet weather. The name takes is origin from a Cow having been Killed by falling over the "linn - or water fall. |

There are no remains of antiquity in the parish except the ruins of three ancient camps.
From their circular form it is probable they are Danish one of them is still very entire upon
the farm of Norshield. the late Colin McKenzie Esqr of Portmore with that good taste for
which he was distinguished having preserved it with great care in the centre of his plantations.

It is at present about 70 links in diameter and about 4 feet above the surface of the hill. It was very large at one time, but the greater part of it is said to have sunk in the moss. |
