The house is one storey high and in good repair, with a garden attached, the property of Sir Graham Montgomery, Baronet, Stobo Castle. In the district it is sometimes called Stanhope Hope. This is however incorrect and is only applied by those ignorant of the meaning of the word "Hope". Sir G.G. Montgomery takes his territorial Title from this
