A small Irregular Village on the East Side of the River Tweed on the Drummelzier Burn. It Consists of the Parish Church, Manse and School, a corn Mill, Smithy and Several Cottages Mostly thatched but in good Repairs. John White Esqr of Netherurd is the proprietor.

An excellent Manse with out houses and garden attached, it is Situated near the Church, was build about 1787 and has since been Several times repaired. It is the residence of the Revd [Reverend] John Taylor the parish Minister whose Stipend is £200. with £6.6.0 for Commn. [Communion] Elements.
