[North by West] from Broughton This is pointed out as the site of an ancient Fort or Camp, which is said to have been of great strength, and defended by two or three Ramparts & Compound of Earth & loose stones. It is altogether destroyed: the only Indications now remaining are Some Confused heaps of earth which are overgrown with grass. The County Road passed over it which was the chief cause of its destruction. |
