016 [Situation] About ¾ of a Mile N.E [North East] of Rachan House

A Small Knowe which was formerly Covered with whins, at the E [East] side of the Biggar Water on the Farm of Whiterig. It is a Tumulus and some years ago sepulchral remains were found in Cutting the furze and ploughing around it.

016 [Situation] On Rachan Hill About 3/8 of a Mile South of Rachan House

This is the Remains of what appears to have been a strong Fort. It was Composed of Ramparts of Earth & loose stones most of which are now removed. It is situated on the Top of Rachan Hill and in a bad state of preservation.
