188The only writing on the page in addition to the page number is:-
"Spots, about 1/2 mile lower down the valley in the direction of Pierowall, and separated from each other by a distance of 30 or 40 yards. These spots remain to the present day, but they are given by local authority as the sites of two houses: the father of one of the authorities given on this sheet remembered when the houses were in existence and known by the name of West Gallowhill.
No information or record of the definite date of this battle can be obtained, but it is generally put down as between 150 or 200 years ago."
