Orkney Island of Stronsay

contd. (continued)
its General appearance is similar to what in some parts of Great Britain is pointed out as "Roman encampments". but as previously remarked there is nothing whatever known of it in the locality: There are three large bays on the Coast of Stronsay, Mill Bay on the east Side, St. [Saint] Catherines on the west, and Bay of Holland on the South, in addition to these there are two Safe harbours for anchorage Linga Sound on the west, and Papa Sound on the north-east. The parish Church, Post Office, and United presbyterian Church are Situated about the Centre of the island. So also, is the principal School. Five sixths of the island is cultivated, the remaining part being wild moorland, farming is the principal pursuit of the inhabitants, Colonel Balfour, of Balfour Castle, owns the greater part of the island.
