098 This name applies to a ring, or circle, of Stones Situated near the H.W. Mark on the west side of "Rothiesholm Head", regarding which there is a legend to the following effect vis; "That there once lived a man in Stronsay by name "Cubbie Rue", who undertook to erect or construct a passage from Stronsay to Shapinshay, and was conveying Stones in a Keshie on his back for the purpose named, when the rope of the Keshie broke & the Contents emptied out at the point which is known since as Cubbie Rues Lade," So Says the legend. on the property of Mr. Heddel.
