Mr. Peter Irvine farmer Lee Mr. William Johnston farmer Seatter Mr. John Merriman Quarrybanks Mr Francis Taylor Farmer Howe 100 A slight hollow in an arable field generally known to be the site of an ancient burial mound, or Tumulus. Mr. William Johnson farmer Seatter carried away the remaining part of this mound a few years ago for the purpose of manuring other parts of the farm It is situated about 1/4 mile south east of Seatter and a short distance N. of the beach of Loch of Stenness upon the property of Mrs. Watt of Kierfiold
Prior to its removal it presented the appearance of a green mound, It consisted chiefly of ashes, burnt stones & black unctuous earth intermixed in about equal proportions,
