106 | A stone cist or coffin measuring about 4 feet in length by 2 broad discovered in an arable field situated 1/8 of a mile north of Hall, and about 1/2 mile eastwards of Outbrecks. in it was a quantity of broken and burnt bones and ashes.. it is supposed that some sacrifice had to take place here as round about the cist was found a quantity of light substance resembling low dust or ashes. The Cist was found when the ground was in progress of Cultivation 20 years ago, prior to which the spot was indicated by what is now considered to have been a large tumulus, A slight elevation is still discernible at the spot. |
