120 Applies to a large island situated between Holm, and South Ronaldsay; and ferry boats may be had at times (weather permitting) to both places, The farms are well cultivated, the soil is made productive through the yearly application of sea-weed, which is to be had on the island throughout the winter and spring. Herring manure is used also to a great extent as a fertiliser.
Fully half the population are engaged in herring fishing. It is the property of the Earl of Zetland.
