The parish is in the presbytery of North Isles and Synod of Orkney. It contains a post office station of its own name. It lies parallel to the district of Evie in the extreme northwest of the mainland, and is separated from it by Eynhallow Sound. It has Egilsay along its east side at the distance of about 3/4 of a mile. It is bounded on the north by Saviskaill Bay & Westray Firth & on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. There is no detached part of this parish locally situated within the boundary of any other parish nor is there any detached part of any other, locally situated within the boundary of this one. It contains about 14,749 statute acres. |
